The act of sleeping is a way that your body repairs itself. When you sleep your heart rate falls, your blood pressure drops, creating less demand and allowing your heart to take a break.
Sleep also causes the body to release hormones that slows your breathing.
With a lower heart rate and slower breathing, your muscles start to relax and you reduce inflammation and your body begins the repair cycle.
Inflammation is a reaction from the cells in our immune system, research has shown that there are different types of inflammation and that cells from our entire body are involved. The cells that line our blood vessels and the cells that line our skin have inflammatory responses, we know that it’s a broad reaction that involves all the cells in the body.
NCBI reported that, inflammation is a critical component of tumour progression. Many cancers arise from sites of infection, chronic irritation and inflammation. It is now becoming clear that the tumour microenvironment, which is largely orchestrated by inflammatory cells, is an indispensable participant in the neoplastic process, fostering proliferation, survival and migration. In addition, tumour cells have co-opted some of the signalling molecules of the innate immune system, such as selectins, chemokines and their receptors for invasion, migration and metastasis. These insights are fostering new anti-inflammatory therapeutic approaches to cancer development.
The NCI reported that Chronic inflammation may be caused by infections that don't go away, abnormal immune reactions to normal tissues, or conditions such as obesity. Over time, chronic inflammation can cause DNA damage and lead to cancer .
