When you go to a Certified Acupuncture Practitioner, he or she will first take your pulses. Do not get this confused with your heart rate pulse. The pulses the practitioner is feeling tells them about how your energy is flowing. After the pulses check, the practitioner will insert very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body called acupoints. These acupoints are connected through meridians.
Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a way to balance the flow of energy — known as chi or qi (chee) basically your life source,—. By inserting needles into specific points along the meridians, Traditional Chinese medicine believe this will re-balance your energy flow.
With the re-balancing you will experience many positive results and relief from, allergies, pain, less stress, emotional, clearer thoughts, better sleep nerve stimulation and overall wellness.
In addition, it is very meditative. Some people I have spoken with get wonderful sensation of floating that comes with total relaxation. Others, have literally quit their job, changed their professional careers to become Acupuncture Practitioners.
While this may seem scary and some are very afraid of needles, DO NOT let your fears stop you. Most of the time you will not see the needles. The needles are very thin and most of the time you will not even feel the insertion of the needle, only a little tap on your body as the needles are placed just below the skin.
There are times that your Chi is blocked and that is causing your symptoms. When the needle is placed in your acupoint, there may be a slight pinch. You want to let your practitioner know about this pain as there are other acupoints connected that they may concentrate on.
I can honestly say that Acupuncture has helped me through my fight against cancer. I HIGHLT RECOMMEND THE PATIENT AND CAREGIVER TRY ACUPUNCTURE.

How does YOGA HELP our Bodies in the fight against cancer and help the Caregiver?
The ancient art of Yoga was designed to heal the mind, body and soul through, combining the body and soul with a physical, mental and spiritual connection. This connection is made by stretches and contortions integral to what is known as the Eastern practice of yoga.
Modern-day science confirms that the practice of Yoga also has physical benefits to overall health that can include improved brain function, denser bones, relief from aches and pain, better balance and modality.
According to the American Council on Exercise, more than 11 million Americans practice yoga and find that the poses (called asanas) and chants strengthen their bodies, center their minds and help them relax.
I have herd many say, Yoga is painful, and they have hurt their self. This can happen when you push your body to hard in twisting and stretching. DO NOT push it. Over time, your muscles will stretch, poses will become easier, and your balance will improve.
There are several types of Yoga, most have the same mind body and soul healing benefits. It is definitely worth doing some research to get the best fit for your body and style. Some Yoga practices include HOT YOGA. Be ready to get hot and you will definitely want a towel, maybe 2 beach towels. Some Yoga types are continuous motion, while others pause in between the poses.
DO NOT be afraid that you will not understand, your instructor will help guide you along the way. Over time the pose will become second nature. Most importantly are the benefits to cancer patients and their Caregivers, looser muscles make it easier to bend, pain relief from tight muscles, better breathing to increase oxygen to you bodies cells, clearer mind from the meditative part of the practice.
